Hello! Thanks for stopping by.
I am a violin, viola and cello teacher in the Apopka, FL area. My husband and I relocated to the area from Iowa in 2019 and I am excitedly building a strong community of musicians here!
Having started studying Suzuki violin at the age of 4, I was your standard Suzuki kid. I started off learning by ear, memorized all the repertoire, went to group classes, summer institutes, and private lessons. However, I didn’t always enjoy playing the violin and it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I fell in love with music. It was at this point I realized the beauty that can be created both in playing well by oneself and with others.
Throughout middle school, high school, and even summers in college, I studied with violinist, John Schultz. In high school, I attended the Preucil School of Music where I was a part of the advanced performing group, Espressivo Strings under Doris Preucil. I also completed the Velay Certificate Program, an intensive study in theory and musicianship, keyboard, and chamber music in addition to regular lessons and orchestra membership.
I received my Bachelor's in Music Education degree from Coe College where I was awarded the full-tuition Marshall Scholarship. I have done Suzuki teacher training at the American Suzuki Institute as well as the Chicago Suzuki Institute and am Suzuki teacher certified in Violin books 1-3.
In Iowa, I worked with the Harmony School of Music for 6 years, where I taught private Suzuki violin and viola lessons, Suzuki group classes, and coached chamber groups. I also taught orchestra at Harding Middle School for 2 years as well as directed and conducted the Eastern Iowa String Orchestra and Eastern Iowa Junior Orchestra.
In my free time, I like to spend time with my husband, 2 daughters, 3 birds and 3 Australian Shepherds as well as explore nature, garden, and grow my indoor jungle.
