Correct Posture

Thumb bent

Middle "hugger" fingers are directly across from thumb & the middle knuckle is on the stick

Pinky rounded

Pointer finger "hooks" stick

Shoulders, neck, and arms should be relaxed

The left jaw hooks or rests on the chin rest

The shoulder should be covered by the violin & the curve of the shoulder rest

The weight of the head holds the violin without the left hand

There should be a slight downward slope from the tailpiece to the scroll

Violin (left) thumb is straight & hiding behind the fingerboard

Straight line from left hand knuckles to elbow (tall/skyscraper hand vs waiter hand)

Fingers should be rounded when pushing down the strings
